We use a consensus based Borda Count voting system where voters can make up to 5 choices per single vote in order of preference. The overall winner in each category is whoever gets the most total points in two rounds. Round 1 voting is open until November 23, 2012. Final round is scheduled on December 12, 2012 during UP 2012 conference.

Update: First round is used to select top 5 candidates to participate in the final and decisive round. Points collected in first round do not count towards final round. The entry that gets most votes in the final round will be the winner in category.

Two of the biggest giants in the European Telecom domain ‘Orange’ and ‘T-Mobile’ announced their intention to merge, into one far reaching and omnipotent entity, with the declared intention of being all things to all people – EVERYTHING EVERYWHERE. The task was to consolidate Orange and T-Mobile Systems by rationalizing existing applications with reduced complexity of integration. But this had to be accomplished in adherence to the ‘Telco – 50’ vision which stated that the result of the merger will be just 50 applications which will serve the entire business from both brands! Torry Harris was faced with many challenges because of the diverse needs of customers from both brands which hitherto competed in the marketplace, existing expectations from the stakeholders in the form of increased efficiency and profits promised by the merger, redundant and disparate IT assets of both companies which could not communicate; coupled with the different development processes which were followed by both Orange and T-Mobile. Torry Harris pitched in with a success formula in the form of using a combination of SOA façade and the Private Cloud Model for a step by step merger. SOA façade acted like the visual expression of the solution and abstracted the user from the nuts and bolts of how the work is done. The existing legacy assets were first identified and gauged by the use of specialized solution accelerators developed by Torry Harris. These were then exposed as services that formed a single shared group-level SOA layer, along with a single consistent interface to shield the complexities of multiple underlying systems. A brand agnostic front-end was designed to serve customers of both brands under a one umbrella. Followed closely, was the phased convergence of infrastructure by bringing together the IT Assets of both brands which was accomplished by leveraging the capacity of the cloud leading to a powerful and ‘Proprietary Private Cloud’ model capable of Dynamic Computing which is used by ‘Everything Everywhere’ today.
