We have developed an out of the box solution for Waypoint Homes, LLC using which they are managing their Real Estate business on Salesforce Cloud platform. This solution comprises of financial calculations that are based on geographic intelligence. We developed this on Salesforce cloud platform because that gives client access to standard CRM funtionality along with complete business management software in one package. We opted for Salesforce as this is cloud based platform and caters client's requirement for ever growing database and processor hungry calculations. We have developed batch routines in Salesforce platform that geocodes properties, and helps financial calculations to calculate buying price and yearly IRR values according to location and various scores given to property in a certain region. There are also heatmaps that shows intensity according to a number of factors. These heatmaps are generated based on custom logic that takes into account a multi-variable criteria and images are generated through a desktop application which uploads map tiles to another php hosted environment.

Over the past decade, dozens of young football players have died of heat-related injuries, and well over 10,000 have been rushed to emergency rooms for treatment of heat-related illness. InSync Software, together with its partner Hothead Technologies, has developed a life-saving application that combines the power of the cloud with the convenience of mobile devices, and runs on InSync’s award-winning iApp Application Cloud Platform. The iApp-powered Hothead Technologies solution mounts tiny wireless temperature sensors/transmitters inside football players’ helmets to monitor and report on players’ body temperature in real-time. Temperature data, along with the each player’s unique identity, is streamed in real-time to the cloud where several business rules are processed to establish if any player is "too hot" based on the player’s profile and medical history. Alerts are sent through push notifications to iPhone or iPad devices held by the coach or other responsible authorities when a player's temperature exceeds an established threshold. The coach can then pull the player off the field for evaluation and provide any needed medical attention immediately. Preemptive action can then be taken to avoid heat-related illness or even death. A hardware platform solution also supported the company's music creation application, Zya, across multiple locations. Music Mastermind saved approximately $29.000 in monthly cloud costs from the solution. What's more, the company gained the capabilities of two locations on opposite coasts to better service their consumers. This cost savings will help the company to rapidly, reliably, and cost-effectively deploy its technologies worldwide.
Qube Managed Services

We provide bespoke hybrid cloud solutions to our clients solutions that can scale up massively to support their business needs. I attach a client's case study that demonstrates how our hybrid solutions work very well. Coupled with our reliability track record - no unplanned outages for 8 years and our performance rated highly by Netcraft ( rated no. 1 August 2012) and Cloud Sleuth, I think we should win. Just Giving’s hdrid cloud database infrastructure was put to the test in April 2012 following the tragic death of Claire Squires, the runner who collapsed during the London Marathon. The response to her fundraising page saw unprecedented traffic to the company’s web site peaking with: • Three donations per second and 13,500 concurrent web site users • 4,000 HTTP requests a second to Justgiving’s webservers • Average number of unique users per day quadrupled to 622,000 JustGiving has worked with Qube Networks, a managed hosting service provider, since 2009, when Qube designed the online fundraising business’s new infrastructure. At the end of 2011, Qube refreshed the entire solution and virtualised the majority of JustGiving’s servers. JustGiving has become accustomed to managing surges in web traffic with high profile fundraising events such as the London Marathon and over the past couple of years Qube’s hosted infrastructure has been the backbone in ensuring availability of the web site during these times. As the benefits of virtualisation have become evermore apparent and with Qube a certified vCloud Powered service provider, JustGiving decided it was time to adopt the technology itself. Tim Henderson, TITLE JustGiving says: “Our original infrastructure with Qube had seen us through a growth period in the business and enabled us to provide a reliable and secure service to a wider audience. Now that virtualisation has matured as a technology, we realised it would give us the ability to scale up very quickly to handle increased traffic at our busiest times.” JustGiving has five racks of servers managed at Qube’s datacentre. These were left in place as the new, virtualised infrastructure was built and tested, so that the two systems were running concurrently until the implementation was complete. Qube moved JustGiving’s infrastructure on to Cloud Servers (also known as VDS – Virtual Dedicated Servers) – which are virtual machine instances hosted on the Qube VMware cloud platform in its UK data centre. Qube deploys the virtual machine from a catalogue of standard Microsoft windows and Linux operating system images. Polly Arrowsmith, MD at Qube Managed Services explains: “This service is ideal for customers, like JustGiving, who want to leverage the flexibility of VMware cloud services but don’t want to spend large amounts of capital and time on deploying a dedicated Private Cloud infrastructure for their business. Hosting on Qube’s VMware Cloud platform gives you access to high-end cloud servers, premium data centre facilities and low-latency bandwidth, without the high running costs.” This scalability was indispensable during the response to the tragedy of Claire Squires, when donations to her fundraising page jumped from £500 to more than £1million in the week following her death. Through the marathon period the web site had been averaging around 190,000 visits a day from around 150,000 unique visitors. On the Monday when the Claire Squires story first started trending online, it had 820,000 hits from 622,000 unique visitors. Traffic slowly ramped up throughout the day, starting at about 11am, hitting around 10,000 concurrent users by 4pm, and 13,000 by around 10pm. As the traffic started building, Qube’s engineers worked on cloning machines in the network to handle the additional traffic. Cloning enables a business to make complete copies of a virtual machine, without browsing a host file system or worrying if you have located all the configuration files, compared with installing a guest operating system and applications which can be time consuming. For JustGiving, time was of the essence. Qube was able to create multiple clones, swiftly enabling the JustGiving web site to deal with the page requests and process payments. File systems hosting virtual machines typically contain many duplicated blocks of data resulting in wasted storage space but this was addressed with data deduplication at Qube’s SAN, which stores a single instance of each unique data block and shares it between all original sources of that data. Polly Arrowsmith, MD at Qube Managed Services says: “Qube is focused on working with our customers to deliver what they need and give high level service and excellent technical support thereafter. We understand that reliability is absolutely key for our customers’ businesses – without an internet presence they do not have a business. In this event we worked closely with JustGiving to make sure the system was working at the optimum level for them.” People visited Claire Squires’ fundraising page from 60 different countries, some just to look, but more than 71,000 to make a donation. On April 24th JustGiving received 32,087 donations through Claire Squires’ fundraising page – about 80 per cent of the total number of transactions JustGiving made that day. There were also high levels of visitors over this period to Claire’s profile page, significantly adding to the traffic. Tim Henderson says: “Over the busiest day I estimate we had over a million unique visitors and almost 2 million hits, peaking at around 13,500 concurrent users. This equates to around 8,000 page views a minute or 133 page views a second, which is around 4,000 HTTP requests a second to our webservers - more traffic than I have ever personally seen on systems I have worked on.” On one day JustGiving took more than 60 donations per minute 746 times, which means at least one donation per second for over half the day. On April 26th, at 8:27am JustGiving took 192 donations – over three donations per second. Comparing with the high levels of traffic JustGiving has managed previously, JustGiving has taken an average of between two and three donations per second 15 times. In 2011 it happened once, before that, never. Tim Henderson continues: “This barrage of traffic with the resulting mass of page requests and donation journeys at the same time can lead to problems for a web site and is similar to experiencing an online attack, which can cause the system to collapse. Downtime for JustGiving, as for any online business, means lost revenue, as well as reputational damage. Without virtualization and the hosted service from Qube it would have taken much, much longer to scale up and I doubt we could have handled the surges in traffic.” As the cloud platform enabled JustGiving to cope with the high levels of traffic, it was able to continue to operate as a business and take donations from the other fundraising pages as well as Claire Squires’. JustGiving waived its fees on Claire Squires’ page due to the circumstances but charities normally pay a fee of between 2% and 5% of each donation plus Gift Aid. JustGiving re-invests the fees into building world-class technology creating more ways for more people to give including online and phone support, payment methods, mobile apps and text messaging. Qube also waived its labour costs in this instance, despite working through to midnight on the peak days during this event. With traffic and donation levels now ticking along at a more usual pace, the JustGiving IT team can reflect on a unique period, which brought the web site in to the UK’s top 100 most visited sites for the first time (ranked by Hitwise at number 79 for one day). JustGiving can now enjoy the lower capex with no hardware or software investment, afforded by the virtualised infrastructure.. Tim Henderson summarises: “Consistency in uptime and user experience is key to ensuring people can access the web site and make a donation. Qube’s engineers manage and monitor the platform 24/7, which allows us to concentrate on our applications and our customers. I see Qube very much as a partner, an addition to our team. We have worked together managing the infrastructure and they were with us every step of the way through this unusual period.” The next step is for Qube to move JustGiving’s infrastructure to VMWare’s Cloud Orchestration software platform. This will provide JustGiving with secure access to control, manage and provision its own cloud environment on Qube’s public cloud infrastructure hosted in Qube’s data centre. The system will give JustGiving ultimate flexibility to provision cloud servers that are right-sized to its needs
