Upping the ante for managing performance and availability in the cloud

From e-commerce giants such as Amazon, to SMBs like the local corner store, it’s clear that organizations large and small have their eyes focused on the cloud, with many moving past the experimentation stage. To complicate matters, research shows that most organizations are also looking to reduce their IT spend. Reduced IT spending, coupled with concerns around transparency, control and the increased level of complexity and associated security risks with cloud platforms are key hindrances organizations need to resolve in order to truly exploit the revenue potential of the cloud. Transitioning to the cloud means deploying the right processes and technologies for monitoring and management, maintaining visibility into performance and availability, while at the same time, delivering the quality of service and detailed insight customers have come to expect – at a lower cost, with fewer resources. With the challenge to provide more actionable insight and better service delivery than ever before in an increasingly dynamic cloud environment, Antonio Piraino, CTO, ScienceLogic, will outline the critical capabilities service providers and enterprises need to implement as they transition to cloud services. As they attempt to maintain this delicate IT budget balance, this session will equip them to better meet the challenge. He’ll look at notable changes taking place within internal operations practices, as they begin to operate at the same levels of efficiency and economies of scale as service providers. Specifically, he will outline the key capabilities and offerings that help successful enterprises and cloud service providers deliver the highest quality service, provide clients insight into usage and performance and increase revenue. Piraino will address how the following capabilities have become crucial to maintain visibility into performance and availability: • Centralized management • Service-level management with integrated events, notification workflow and ticketing • Customer self-service portals • Automated provisioning • Bandwidth reports and billing calculation Finally, as the cloud continues to fuel demand for better IT operations management solutions, Piraino will explore growing trends, such as the increase in business analytics applications to look at how they are reshaping service delivery. He will leverage years of industry analyst experience to provide a roadmap for enterprises, cloud service providers and IT teams to enable them to combine business intelligence with service delivery to create a high-quality offering for their customers.
