PaaS initially earned the negative – but appropriate – reputation of locking in developers and their resulting applications to the PaaS provider’s own infrastructure services. If an application was developed on a PaaS, it would be forced to live there forever due to language differences, incompatibilities with other IaaS offerings and dependencies on specialized PaaS services.
