Cloud-Aware Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery
Next-generation platforms are more than new programming languages, frameworks and databases: exploiting the cloud entails new IT processes that give developers the tools to increase productivity, scalability, security and resilience. In order to increase resilience in the cloud, BC/DR processes must be cloud-aware and indeed cloud-savvy. Traditional backup and replication don't work in clouds; the solution is DR orchestration, a methodology that stretches DR processes across clouds so that they can collaborate to assure recovery in case of an outage. DR orchestration touches the entire stack, from storage to applications, to certify that all components involved in service delivery are always operational in a secondary cloud within predictable and measurable recovery times.
