Brave New World: Encryption and the Cloud
The cloud is becoming an extension of the enterprise data center– a fast, scalable, on-demand environment for hosting applications, data, computing resources, and more. Public clouds including infrastructure as a service and platform as a service are replacing locked down data centers as organizations seek to leverage the cost savings and agility provided by on-demand services. However, for many organizations data security remains a barrier to the cloud. This session will explain how encryption can enable enterprises to avoid losing visibility into the custodianship of their data when it resides in cloud infrastructures. Specifically, the speaker will cover how organizations can remotely apply encryption on data in the cloud, create and enforce access control policies, maintain separation of duties, and centralize key management for datacenter and cloud environments.
