Public Sector Cloud Strategies: How cloud computing is enabling 21st century government

Cloud computing models offer governments a wide variety of opportunities to cut costs, improve operations, provide transparency, and engage citizens. New term successes range from Recovery.gov being rapidly deployed at a fraction of the cost of typical government IT projects to City governments’ crowdsourcing development of applications. Security and privacy concerns are important and at the forefront of public sector Cloud computing strategies. Tight budgets are accelerating the movement of governments to multiple cloud initiatives. This presentation will discuss security, privacy, sourcing, and other priorities for government in moving to the cloud. It will include case studies of current cloud initiatives, including what, when, how and why those initiatives are achieving success.
